Ultrasound for Breast Screening
Screening for breast problems using mammography is well known and well established, however, using mammography (an x-ray based test) in younger women is not advisable in the majority of cases and therefore ultrasound becomes very useful for checking any lumps or cysts in the breast.
It can also be used in diagnosing conditions such as breast abscesses that sometimes occur during breast feeding. Breast examination takes about 30 minutes and this is performed using high frequency ultrasound probe especially designed for that use.
