Mummy MOT at Carmenta Life
A postnatal assessment that looks at the whole picture
The Mummy MOT is a structured postnatal examination for women following vaginal or C-section birth — looking at pelvic floor function, abdominal muscle recovery, posture and the structural picture overall. It is recommended from six weeks postnatal, but it is never too late. Women come to us at six weeks and at six years, and the body holds patterns long after birth that are worth looking at properly.
At Carmenta Life, the Mummy MOT is delivered by Antonietta D’Angelo — a women’s health osteopath with a Diploma in Women’s Health Osteopathy from the Molinari Institute and a certified Mummy MOT practitioner. That combination means the Mummy MOT sits within a broader osteopathic assessment — pelvic floor and abdominal findings are considered alongside the whole structural and musculoskeletal picture, how your body is organised, and what patterns may have developed during pregnancy and birth.
What the assessment covers
- Full case history — your pregnancy, birth and how you’ve been since
- Postural screen and structural assessment
- Pelvic floor assessment
- Abdominal muscle assessment including diastasis recti
- Screening for bladder, bowel and musculoskeletal concerns
- Where relevant, assessment of scar tissue and surrounding structures
You’ll leave with a clear picture of what we’ve found and a plan that is specific to you — whether that’s hands-on treatment, a home exercise programme, or a recommendation to explore further support.
What makes this different
Antonietta is a women’s health osteopath — she looks at the whole structural picture, not just the part that’s most obvious. Where relevant, she can incorporate osteopathic treatment within the same appointment, and she is also a certified Scar Therapist with training in photobiomodulation (red light laser therapy) for scar recovery.
If you’ve had a C-section, you may want to consider the C-section MOT instead — a more specific assessment designed around the particular demands of surgical birth and recovery.
