We provide paediatric ultrasound scans if you are concerned about your child’s health when your child has been referred by a GP. The scans can help diagnose a number of problems, which can be detected early on, such as digestive, kidney or liver health to help provide the correct course of treatment. Our private GP can help to assess your child.

Congenital Hip Dislocation Scan

Hip screening for newborns can help diagnose developmental dysplasia, which is either some shallowness of the hip joint socket or complete dislocation of the hip. If this is not treated early enough it may lead to more serious physical disability in the child’s hips and back.

Ultrasound screening for congenital anomalies of the kidney

Kidney malformations may lead to problems with urine flow which may cause damage to kidneys over time if not detected early. This scan assesses any anomalies of the kidneys.

Ultrasound screening of the abdomen

If your child is suffering from acute abdominal pain, our Paeaditric Abdomen Scan is used to assess for:

• Chronic abdominal pain to detect for any tumours
• Intestinal intussusceptions ~ an entanglement of the intestines
• Acute pancreatitis which although rare is easy to miss without scanning
• Appendicitis
• Gallstones and kidney stones usually evident in older children
• Assess for excessive growth in ovaries for girl

Scrotal Scan

This scan is helpful if there are painful lumps or swelling and diagnosies for hydrofoil, which is fluid around the testicles.

Our paediatric scans are available for newborns and children up to the age of 16.
