Osteopathy

Our osteopaths at Carmenta Life pride themselves on being patient-focused, structural and cranial registered osteopaths, caring for people in the Berkhamsted area. Our group practitioners work in a collaborative way to provide a professional and friendly service. All our osteopaths are registered with the General Osteopathic Council and have undertaken postgraduate training in Paediatric and Cranial techniques.

On your first visit, the osteopath will take a full medical case history and detailed information about your symptoms and lifestyle. You may be asked to remove some of your clothing so that a physical examination can be carried out. You will also be asked to perform certain movements to identify specific restrictions or factors contributing to your symptoms. With all of this in mind, the osteopath will form a diagnosis, which will be discussed with you. As long as it is safe and appropriate to treat, the osteopath will agree the next steps with you.

A highly developed sense of touch called palpation is used to assess areas of weakness, tenderness, restriction or strain within your body.  Osteopaths usually start any treatment by releasing and relaxing muscles and stretching stiff joints, using gentle massage techniques, rhythmic joint movements and muscle release techniques. The osteopath may also carry out manipulation using short, quick movements to spinal joints. Other techniques may also be used depending on your problem.

We also offer services for cranial osteopathy.
