Cranial Osteopathy & Osteopathy at Carmenta Life

Felicity Bertin and Antonietta D’Angelo are specialist cranial osteopaths with deep postgraduate expertise in paediatrics, infant feeding, women’s health and scar therapy. Between them they hold qualifications that go well beyond undergraduate osteopathic training — and well beyond what you would find in a general osteopathic practice.

Families come from across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and beyond to see them at Carmenta Life in Berkhamsted.

Cranial Osteopathy for Babies

Cranial osteopathy is one of the most searched-for areas of osteopathic care for babies — and one where specialist training matters enormously. Both Felicity and Antonietta hold postgraduate Diplomas in Paediatric Osteopathy and have spent their careers working with babies from the newborn period onwards.

We look at how your baby is moving, how their body is organised, how their nervous system is responding, and whether early primitive reflex patterns appear to be integrating as expected. We share what we find clearly, so you can make informed decisions about next steps.

Reasons families come to us include:

  • Unsettled or uncomfortable babies
  • Feeding difficulties and tongue-tie concerns
  • Head shape concerns
  • Colic and reflux
  • Sleep and settling
  • Movement patterns that don’t seem quite as expected

As registered osteopaths and primary healthcare practitioners, we work collaboratively with the wider healthcare team supporting your family.

Cranial Osteopathy for Children

The patterns laid down in early life — through birth, early movement and primitive reflex integration — can show up in unexpected ways as children grow. We see children of all ages and take time to understand each child as an individual, always working at their pace.

We regularly work alongside speech and language therapists, orthodontists and other specialists, and welcome referrals from other practitioners. Families often come to us as part of a wider multidisciplinary picture — and we’re experienced at fitting into that.

Reasons families come to us include:

  • Postural concerns
  • Jaw tension and orthodontic support
  • Speech and language support alongside SALT
  • Growing pains
  • Recurring tension headaches
  • Unsettled sleep
  • Developmental movement patterns and reflex integration

Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond

Pregnancy changes the body significantly — and birth changes it further. The way you carried your baby, the way you gave birth, and the way you’ve been moving since can all leave patterns that don’t always resolve on their own. Antonietta leads the women’s health work at our Berkhamsted clinic, supporting women from pregnancy through to postnatal recovery and beyond.

Reasons women come to us during pregnancy include back and pelvic pain, SPD, rib discomfort, and preparation for birth. In the postnatal period, reasons include back pain, pelvic floor concerns, C-section recovery, and a body that simply hasn’t felt quite right since the birth.

Antonietta offers Mummy MOT and C-section MOT appointments, and is a certified Scar Therapist. She has also trained in photobiomodulation — red light laser therapy — which she uses in the context of scar recovery.
